Due Process

In AYSO, Due Process = Notice + Opportunity to be Heard = Fairness. Due Process embodies society’s basic notions of fairness.

When participation must be limited, suspended or revoked, it becomes necessary to provide the individual with due process and the right to be heard.

Even though due process represents only small percentage of dispute outcomes, it is vital that it be handled properly. The process constitutes an “internal administrative proceeding” pursuant to California administrative law.  AYSO refers to the process as a “review proceeding” in this course.

For additional information, consult AYSO’s Reference Book; Standard Policies & Protocols, Chapter 4, Article 9, Dispute Resolution, and Chapter 8, Regional Operations, Due Process.
